덩케르크, 관객의 객관성 그 한계를 시험하다(용산아이맥스, 덩케르크 영화 해석) ; Dunkirk Movie Interpretation

 덩케르크를 보는 2가지 관점(스포일러가 있을수 있음)

1 . 자기와의 관계에서 벗어나 제삼자의 입장에서 사물을 보거나 생각하는. 또는 그런 것.

모든 영화에는 등장인물들이 있고 그들은 각각 자신의 맡은바 역할에 기인하여 이야기를 풀어나간다. 어떤 캐릭터는 주인공으로 어떤 캐릭터는 조연으로 또한 누구는 존재감 없는 엑스트라일 수도 있다. 이 각각 캐릭터들의 공통점이라면 모두 자기 자신의 이름을 가지고(설력 엑스트라일지도 행인1, 행인2 라는 이름을 가진다) 캐릭터의 생성과정 바로 그가 만들어지고 등장한 이유가 있다는 것이다.

 

 

  

덩케르크에서 등장하는 수많은 캐릭터들 또한 실화에 기인하거나 크리스토퍼 놀란 감독의 의도대로 이야기를 풀어내기 위한 장치 등 갖가지 이유를 가지고 영화에 등장하였을 것이다. 다만 다른 영화들과의 차이점이라면 덩케르크는 관객의 "객관적"인 시각을 처음부터 끝까지 유지하는 것이다.

 

 

 

어떤 캐릭터에 대한 부연적인 설명이나 자기소개는 2시간이 넘는 러닝타임동안 3번 정도에 그친다. 관객은 영화 시작부터 엔딩크레딧이 올라가기 전까지 덩케르크 전투에 참여한 혹은 그 전투를 지켜보는 제 3자로써 영화를 지켜보게 된다. 최근 대부분의 영화가 개성있는 캐릭터, 살아숨쉬는 생동감과 성격을 바탕으로 영화를 이끌어나간다면 덩케르크는 최소화된 대사와 객관적 인물관계를 바탕으로 다큐 냄새가 물씬 나는 생존 드라마를 그리고 있다.

생과 사를 넘나드는 긴박한 전투 상황 속에서 전우의 이름조차 알지 못한채 눈빛과 몸짓으로 서로를 살리고 살아남기위해 몸부림친다. 너가 누구인지, 내가 누구인지 중요하지 않다 다만 집으로 돌아가기 위해서 안간힘을 쓰는 그 생존에 대한 열망은 영화 초반 물을 찾아 거리를 헤매는 모습과 의식을 잃는 순간까지 배에 매달리는 그 모습에서 절실히 느낄 수 있다.

객관적

2. 세계나 자연 따위가 주관의 작용과는 독립하여 존재한다고 생각되는. 또는 그런 것.

각각의 캐릭터들은 자신의 이야기를 가지고 있다. 패잔병이기도하며 마지막까지 자신의 역할을 다하는 장군, 전쟁에 휩쓸린 사병 등 일상에서 볼수 있는 평범한 사람들은 전쟁속에서 발끝부터 머리끝까지 변해간다

덩케르크의 등장인물들은 크게 2가지로 나누어 볼수 있다. 살아남으려는 자와 지키려는 자, 전쟁에 밀어넣어진 아이들을 지키려는 어른과 빗발치는 총알 속에서 살아남으려는 젊은이들.

거대한 전장은 육지, 해상, 하늘 모든 곳을 휩쓴다. 그리고 각각의 위치에는 젊은이들을 살리려는 책임을 가진 어른들이 등장한다. 끝까지 덩케르크에 남은 해군 제독, 바다에서 한명의 생명이라도 더 건져내려는 민간인들, 그리고 자신의 목숨과 맞바꾸어 아군의 생명을 지키는 공군.

여러가지의 모습과 가라앉는 배에서 세월호와 그들을 지키지 못한 어른들의 책임감이 마음속 어딘가에서 떠오르는건 왜일까..

거대한 흐름을 이기지 못하는 인간과 세상.

결국 덩케르크 전투는 히틀러의 패망을 야기하는 작은 불꽃이 된다.

 

 

 

놀란 감독에 의해 영화는 극사실주의로 제작되었다. 넓은 해안에 한척씩 들어오는 배들, 공중전에서의 교전또한 규모가 조촐하게 보일 수 있으나 정말 그 시대의 전투를 그대로 재현한 것.

2차 세계대전의 시작이라고 볼 수 있는 덩케르크 후퇴는 독일군이 육군부대로 점령하지 않고 소규모의 폭격으로만 연합군을 공격해 33만명이 넘는 군사가 생존하였다. 이것은 추후 전쟁에서 히틀러와 독일을 압박한다.

영화의 대부분이 아이맥스로 촬영되었으며 놀란 감독은 아이맥스로 영화보기를 당부하였다. 대서사시와 같은 전쟁영화지만 지나친 기대는 실망을 가져올 수도 있다. 전쟁영화에서 보기드믄 긴장감을 지속시키며 3개의 엇갈린 시간은 단순하게 전개될 수도 있는 영화를 조금은 특별하게 한다. 아이맥스가 아니라면 조금은 평범할 수 있는 전쟁영화.  한스 짐머와 놀란의 호흡은 여전하다.

* 용산 CGV가 리모델링하였다. 아이맥스관은 의자가 고급스러운 가죽의자로 또한 좌 우의 좌석은 중앙쪽으로 틀어져 좀더 좋은 관람환경을 제공한다. 팔걸이 또한 2좌석씩 각각 2개가 제공되어 좀더 쾌적해졌다

One . I am out of my relationship with myself and seeing or thinking about things from the perspective of a third person. Or something like that.

There are characters in every movie and they release stories based on their roles. Some characters are heroes, some are characters, others are extras without presence. If each character has a common name, they all have their own names (the names of the characters are 1 and 2, respectively).

Numerous characters from Dunkirk could also have appeared in the film for a variety of reasons, such as a true story, or a device to unlock the story of Christopher Nolan's intentions. But the difference with other films is that Dinkerk keeps the viewer's "objective" view from start to finish.

A brief description of a character or self introduction is made about three times during a running time of over two hours. The audience will watch the movie as a third party who participates in the Dunkirk battle or watches the battle until the ending credits rise from the start of the movie. If most movies in recent years lead a film based on a character with unique character, life-style and personality, Dinkerk has a survival drama with a smell of documentary based on the relationship between the minimal dialogue and objective personality.

In an urgent battle situation that crosses life and death, he does not even know his name, but struggles to survive by living with his eyes and gestures. I do not care who you are, who I am But the desire to survive, trying to get back home, I can feel the desire to find water at the beginning of the movie and hang on the boat until I lose consciousness .

The characters of Dunkirk can be divided into two types. Young people who want to survive, who want to defend, who want to survive in a bullet raging with an adult who wants to keep children in the war.

Eventually, the Dunkirk battle becomes a small flame that causes Hitler's defeat.

By Nolan Director, the film was produced with extreme realism. The ships on the wide shore and the engagements in the air combat can also be seen on a small scale, but they really reproduce the battle of the time.

The Dunkirk retreat, seen as the beginning of World War II, did not occupy the German army as an army unit, but attacked the allied forces only with small bombings, and more than 330,000 soldiers survived. This pressures Hitler and Germany in future warfare.

Most of the film was shot with Imax, and Nolan directed me to watch movies with Imax. War movies like the epic poetry, but too much expectation can cause disappointment. Continuing tension in war movies, the three staggering times make a movie that can be developed simply a little special. If it is not IMAX, it is a war movie that can be a little ordinary. The breath of Hans Zimmer and Nolan remains.
